Window Well Covers We took possession of our new home, as late in life first time homeowners, in July 2024 There were three window well covers that were unsightly and DIY in the worst sense of the word; discolored textured plastic on top of 2x4 wood frames that were almost rotting. Returning from a short out of town trip, we discovered one of the plastic covers had blown away, never to be found. I researched some manufacturers and let Derrick know we would like him to do the installation. He told us almost no one uses window well covers and the prefab ones in the big box stores are essentially worthless. I felt he was dissuading us from this project, but we don't care what most people do; we wanted an end product that was substantial, beautiful and high quality. After non-responsiveness from the lead I provided, Derrick decided he could fabricate the covers himself. This required a great many moving parts including an out of town welder, polycarbonate panels, designing it, sourcing the hinges, sourcing the best coatings for those hinges and rubber seals to go between the concrete and the cover. By approaching the project in this manner, sourcing the steel, instead of ordering it pre-manufactured, Derrick saved us more than $2,000; not an insignificant amount of money. This was not a cookie cutter project. It was a creative challenge that Derrick self-assumed. It has become almost axiomatic to find the word elevated in food reviews. It means the chef took an everyday dish and created something unlike you have ever tasted. Derrick created elevated window well covers. They easily could be featured in Fine Homebuilding Magazine. When you hire Trego Custom Homes you are hiring artisans; craftsmanship should be celebrated. So much more light is entering our downstairs level. These are worthy additions to our home. No pun intended as they are literally screwed into the house and not the siding. Derrick manifested in three dimensional form the vision we had for this project. The review would not be complete without highlighting team member Sobay. The dimensions of the side pieces to complete the box could not be determined until after the window wells were set in place. Sobay took measurements and returned the next day with the pre-cut pieces. He then needed to bolt these pieces to the frames and add the rubber to go between the frame and concrete. Sobay's meticulous attention to measurement details during the final assembly made the finished products even more finished!

I've had two great experiences working with Derrick Ogert. The first experience working with Derrick was many years ago when I was very young. He made sure that I understood what was happening at the level that I needed at the time. He gave me great advice/information and even stopped by my work office so I could sign things. The second time around, when buying a bigger house, the process was much more complicated. Derrick walked us through it every step of the way. He was willing to do this in person or by phone, always deferring to whatever method worked best for us. He was very transparent about many aspects of the buying and even offered to fix a few things around the place that the seller wasn't willing to do. He went above and beyond. I really, really appreciate him and would highly recommend anyone to work with him.

Because we had an outstanding experience with Derrick Ogert previously (he was asked by us to act as a consultant regarding the findings of a home inspection that found missing flashing between a deck and exterior wall when we were house hunting), we asked him for an estimate to clean the deck of our new home. He assessed the condition, let us know he would also clean the 2 outside walls attached to the deck. He let us know too there is no guarantee that it would be restored to as new condition regarding my request, but it would look better. Not only did he clean the deck and walls, he cleaned the railings and ceiling over the enclosed deck, the front of the deck and stairs; totally unexpected. It was not until the next day that we set eyes on the front of the deck. OMG what a difference! The entire deck does indeed look brand new. Attached are pictures. The results speak for themselves; the deck is 10 years old because the house was built in 2014. Thank you Derrick! PS His report regarding the house with the dangerous deck was so detailed it helped establish our case to back out of the contract on the grounds of structural and safety issues.

Derrick is great to work with. Very knowledgeable and understands the market. He’s helped us purchase two houses and sell one house. Highly recommend.
